Numerical and experimental study on forming preforms in a CNC skew rolling mill

Abstract This paper relates to a study on the formation of elongated preforms in CNC skew rolling mill. First, numerical analysis was performed investigate forming processes for three different parts: scraper, connecting rod, and hook. The shapes dimensions were designed, closed-died forging producing these parts simulated numerically. Distributions temperature, effective strain damage function determined rolled preforms. Loads torques process measured. It found that mill characterized by relatively low force parameters relation formed parts. Numerical simulations showed all forged had required shape, which indicates designed correctly. Following analysis, experiments under laboratory conditions (in scale 1:2). Experimental results demonstrated no internal defects (cracks) high dimensional accuracy.
